Knowt Review: Tooliverse Consensus
Based on 23k+ verified reviews across 5 platforms,
combined with Tooliverse's expert analysis
Knowt is the definitive free study platform, linking AI note-taking to exam-style practice in one app. Its AI drafts flashcards and practice tests from lectures, PDFs, and slides, while Learn mode, Spaced Repetition, and streak-based gamification turn them into daily habits at no cost to students. Ads that cover answer buttons, web-to-mobile sync lag, and generated questions that need editing for complex subjects are the recurring complaints, and some advanced AI features are drifting behind the Ultra paywall.
Bottom line: The definitive free study app for turning lectures into flashcards and exam practice, held back only by free-plan ads and a creeping Ultra paywall for advanced AI features.

Knowt Pricing 2026
Students never need to pay: Learn, Practice Test, Spaced Repetition, Match, and Quizlet imports all come at $0, so the entry tier is effectively the whole product. Individual teachers get a free plan too, but the cap of 20 ultra features per month is the number to watch if you generate quizzes weekly. Ultra is the school and district license, built around rostering, LMS links, monitoring, and unlimited AI.
Knowt In-Depth Review 2026
Knowt is a free AI study app that turns PDFs, slides, videos, images, and audio into notes, flashcards, and practice tests, with its Kai AI doing the first draft. It runs on the web, iOS, and Android, and a Chrome extension pulls in existing Quizlet sets with images and formatting intact. Learn, Practice Test, Spaced Repetition, and Match modes are all free for students, which explains most of its popularity. Teachers get a free plan with lesson and quiz generators as well.
What It's Like Day-to-Day
The daily loop is short. Upload up to five files at once, whether lecture PDFs, a slide deck, a video, or audio, and Kai drafts notes, flashcards, and practice questions; the slide summarizer is advertised at under 30 seconds. Students who record a live lecture get the same set of outputs afterward, podcasts included. Speed is the payoff reviewers mention most, and one described turning class notes into cards as something that "feels like magic" even if the auto-generated quizzes can run basic.
Once the cards exist, the study modes do the work.
